Boo...
It is Halloween and I sit here watching out the window into the dark. The yard is lit by the yellow glow of the 95 watt porch light. There are three bags of mini candy bars by the front door. No takers yet. This street is not the one to send your kids to. No street lights, no one living in the house across the street. The other house on that side has an invalid old lady and the house next door, the couple are working and not home.
Only a zombie would be out tonite and they don't want candy. So I picked the good stuff to give out, knowing I will get to eat it all myself.

Fun City...
In the little out of the way (far away) city, I found the sign. Had to turn around and go back for the picture. Sign was at a gas station. Noting the price, you are able to see that it is currently in business. Took the picture two summers ago when gas prices were on the border of $3 per gallon.
What do you think of that ! !
The last Green Stamp Store that I know of was located on the corner of Holgate and 82nd ave in Portland. That corner is now occupied by a Walgreens.

Swinging...
Yup, that describes my house. Cousins come and they go. Last week-end more cousins. This time there was Dad. Two years older than me, his son and wife, along with two of their 8 kids plus an extra little girl that belongs to another son. Now they all get gone by Sunday afternoon.
Sunday night I'm ready for some time in my house alone. NOT. Got a call from cuz #1, he is on his way back to town to work again for his brother-in-law (also my cuz #2). So this week cuz #1 will be staying with me.
Ok, now for some pics.
Here is another view...
Ohoooo....
Getting close to Halloween, here is the spook house....
Are your scared yet?
Carry on...
EDIT: Yes, that water up there is indeed Burney Falls. I forgot to name them.

Ant with a secret...
Got a few interesting pics and maybe a disturbing one. Rain began during the night last night. It was expected. Although, this afternoon some sun came out. Temp was 62. Tonite it will freeze, just barely. Most of the walnut tree leaves have fallen. During the last two weeks, the freezing temps at night have killed most of them, and the wind last week really brought them down. The apple tree leaves are tougher and they are just nonchalantly moseying down to the ground.
Had a problem with the gas heat thermostat, again. Man replaced it once and the new one worked sporadically for one day only.
Would not work.
He had to take out the defective new one and replace it.
Saturday while out to the store, caught this "real up-close" pot-o-gold indicator.
Well since the rain is back for a few days and it is staying cold outside, today was the day for my first fire in the fireplace. Since I have moved in, the chimney sweep has been here to clean out the pipe, replace bricks in the firebox and replace the seal around the glass door. Today I set fire to miscellaneous pieces of wood.
Sure looks good, doesn't it?
Now for a re-cap look around the place...
Here I am welcoming you to the front door...
Relaxing on the patio, out in the back...
Here Is the Boat House...
And now some changes in my office in the house. Someone is now looking over my shoulder while I sit at my computer.
And now for the bug...
While sitting at my computer here, I felt some....uhhhh, commotion in my left ear. After some digging, and several fishing trips this is what I retrieved out of there. I won't say what I was using to fish with but you can see from the size indicator I have shown in the picture just how small this "bug" was. I believe it to be a lady bug that is really that small and has black and white spots on it. Either that or an ant.
Sooo, if you agree to listen to a bug secret, he may crawl into your ear and tell you.
Whoa, shades of "The Wrath of Kahn"....

Home alone...
I don't think I want a bed and breakfast after all. I will just buy a bigger package from dish TV.
Today I cleaned out the rain gutters. S'posed to start raining again sometime late tonite. Had two very nice fall days. Nice sun during the day, 75-ish with blue skies. But already the clouds are sliding in and it is "damp" out. Rain is not far.
Next week I have another load of wood being brought in. Tomorrow will be firing up the old wood fireplace. The gas heat is nice but expensive. The wood heat is warmer and cheaper. Just effort is needed. I have that.
